Devayat Pandit's Life and Teachings
Devayat Pandit was born in the 15th century in Vantali, a village in Junagadh district of Gujarat. His parents were devout and pious, and they instilled in him a faith and devotion for God from his childhood. His father was a farmer and also served the visiting saints and sages in his village. It is said that Devayat Pandit lost his parents at a young age, but he continued to follow their footsteps and serve the holy men. Devayat Pandit's caste is a matter of debate among scholars. Some consider him to be a Thana Brahmin, some a Harijan Brahmin from Barda Bilesar, some a son of Udayshankar Gor from Vantali, and some a Maladhari saint. [1] However, Devayat Pandit's caste is not important, as he transcended all social barriers with his spiritual wisdom and love.
Devayat Pandit met his guru, Shobhaji, at a religious fair in Taranga. Shobhaji was a leader of the Mahapanth-Margi sect, which followed the teachings of Dharma Sagar, a 12th-century reformer of Jainism. Shobhaji impressed Devayat Pandit with his profound knowledge and eloquence, and answered all his doubts and questions with clear examples and explanations. Devayat Pandit felt a strong attraction towards Shobhaji, and decided to become his disciple. He left his village and went to Girnar, a sacred mountain where many saints lived. He wandered in the forests and served the saints, but he was not satisfied with his spiritual progress. He longed to meet his guru again and learn more from him.
Devayat Pandit travelled across Gujarat and other parts of India, spreading the message of love, peace, and harmony. He sang his songs in Gujarati language, using simple words and metaphors that appealed to the common people. He also made many prophecies about the future events of India and the world, such as the arrival of foreign invaders, the rise and fall of kingdoms, the advent of new religions, the emergence of social reforms, and the dawn of a new era. His prophecies are recorded in his book Devayat Pandit Vani, which is considered as a sacred scripture by his followers.
Devayat Pandit's songs are not only expressions of his devotion, but also sources of guidance and inspiration for anyone who wants to attain spiritual liberation. His songs teach us how to overcome our ignorance, ego, attachment, anger, greed, and delusion. They also show us how to cultivate virtues like faith, humility, compassion, forgiveness, gratitude, and joy. They also reveal the secrets of karma, reincarnation, soul, God, guru, and salvation. They also inspire us to serve humanity and nature with selflessness and love. aa16f39245
